Poppies For The Fallen

~Pause and remember the services and sacrifices made by Canada’s war heroes throughout history~

On November 10th, 2020 at College Park, the Downtown Yonge BIA will create an installation of poppies for the fallen soldiers to commemorate all the Canadians who enlisted in World War 1 by planting poppies in their memory. We invite you to join us plant poppies to pay tribute to their sacrifices.

The Downtown Yonge BIA Staff will be available with poppies on site all day.

Downtown Yonge Remembers

On November 11th, 11 AM at Yonge- Dundas Square and key intersections on Yonge Street within our catchment, we will pause for a Moment of Silence and playing of The Lament on bagpipes to remember the services and sacrifices made by Canada’s heroes throughout history. At that time, all the digital boards at Yonge and Dundas will display photographs and newspaper headlines of World War I.

Bagpipers will be at the following intersections to play The Lament and observe the moment of silence on Yonge Street and: Richmond Street; Shuter Street; Dundas Street; Gould Street; Gerrard Street; College Street; and between Wood & Alexander Streets

The Downtown Yonge BIA would like to thank our partners, Mackenzie House and the media companies that have donated their digital boards so that we can respectfully pay tribute to our heroes – Astral Media, Branded Cities, Outfront Media and Yonge Dundas Square
