Taste of Downtown Yonge launches this winter as a new, year-round food tour program designed to connect locals to the diverse flavours—and ever-evolving stories—of Toronto’s downtown core.

Presented by the Downtown Yonge BIA, the program kicks off with Winter Warm Up, a 2-hour walking food tour running weekly from February through April, offering a student-friendly introduction to the neighbourhood’s food culture during the colder months.

Each season will introduce a new edition of the tour, reflecting the changing rhythms, tastes, and communities of Downtown Yonge throughout the year:

• Winter Warm Up (February–April) — inviting students to explore local international comfort foods to warm up the cold winter months
• Spring Bites (April–June ) — as the snow melts, residents are invited to discover new neighbourhood culinary gems
• Summer Street Eats (June–September) — all are welcome to enjoy the sunny days and visit the hottest spot in Toronto while sampling diverse locale cuisine
• Fall Comfort Cuisine (September–December) — employees are encouraged to come out and sample local lunch favourites

Each guided walking tour features visits to 4–5 local restaurants, combining tastings with engaging storytelling about Downtown Yonge’s past, present, and future—highlighting how this ever-transforming neighbourhood continues to evolve through food, culture, and the people who call it home.

With tours capped at 15 participants and $20 tickets, this BIA-subsidized program makes discovering Downtown Yonge’s vibrant food scene accessible to students, workers, residents, and curious locals alike.

As this is a walking tour, participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and wear comfortable, sturdy shoes. 

To provide ample opportunities for Torontonians to join us, we are limiting attendees to two (2) tours per year per person.
