Annual General Meeting Notice

We invite you to join us at our 25th AGM, where we will cover what the DYBIA has accomplished in 2026, as well as share our planned budget for 2027, which will require member approval.

The formal AGM proceedings will be held online, with motions and the voting process done through Zoom via the poll function. As a valued member of the DYBIA , it is important to participate in the AGM process and support your B.I.A..

AGM Procedures:

To attend, pre-registration is required. If you are a voting member, we will subsequently contact you for proof of BIA membership (photo ID and either a business card, utility bill with business name/tenant name and address, or City of Toronto property tax bill).

Per The City of Toronto Municipal Code, Chapter 19, Business Improvement Area, only members of the BIA and their legal representatives (proof required) are eligible to vote at the AGM. A “person” is defined by Chapter 19 to include “a corporation and the heirs, executors, administrators or other legal representatives of a person to whom the context can apply according to the law.” No person in attendance shall have more than one vote. Voting members must join the meeting through the desktop or mobile app to be able to vote. Voting is not available to attendees that call into the meeting.

BIAs are in an election year, and as such the Downtown Yonge BIA will also present a new Board of Directors to be elected at the AGM. The Downtown Yonge BIA Board of Management comprises of up to twelve (12) directors and two (2) City Councillors. Every four (4) years, coinciding with the Municipal elections, the BIA puts out a Call for Expression of interest for representation as a Director of the Board. Nominations opened on June 05, 2026 and closed on July 10, 2026. No nominations will be accepted from the floor. All directors are public appointed officials. The term of office is for four (4) years: in this case, 2027-2030.

Please submit any questions to agm@downtownyonge.com. This is a live Zoom event, and time is limited.
