12:00PM — 1:30PM

Wednesday August 7

1 Queen Street East

SAINT “O” has been taking audiences on an international musical journey from North America and Asia to Europe and the Middle East with their special brand of “AFRO CARIBBEAN JAZZ”.

The band originated in Toronto, Canada in the early 90′s and soon became an international household name on the pop ,R&B and top 40 circuit. In the past few years however SAINT “O” have changed musical genres doing what they love best which reflects most of the member’s heritage “Caribbean Jazz”.

Led by their drummer Jermaine St.Omer (a graduate of the Ontario College of percussion), the band boasts some of the Caribbean’s best instrumentalist who now make Canada their home. Jermaine is the former musical director of the Jazz program at the Grand Hyatt in Hong Kong where he collaborated with some of Atlanta and Buffalo’s best Jazz musicians to make the program a huge success.

The latest incarnation of Saint’O’ introduces the steelpan played by Trinidadian born Andy Phillips, which gives the band a truly authentic Caribbean vibe, yet still staying true to the jazz genre.

The other members of Saint”O” are comprised of Michael Redhead (Skel),from Grenada on saxophones, Raymond Blake on trumpet from St.Vincent, and from Trinidad & Tobago Saint”O” boasts Oswald James on trombone ,Keith Dindayal on bass, Ron Des Vignes on percussion and Ron Hull on guitar. Esteban Carvallo the bands keyboardist hails from Canada, and the sensational LaVonne (Mandy) on vocals from Trinidad.

The band is currently collaborating on their first CD to be released early next year, which no doubt will propel them to greater heights considering the response Saint”O” has been getting in the live arena around the world.

Play the Parks is presented by TD Bank, produced by the Downtown Yonge BIA.
